Giving nature humanity

Brief:

Focus residents of a semi-rural shire attending local festivals
Who care a little about nature
To care more
By personalising nature

The idea:

Residents should see nature as part of their community. To do this I needed an animal to stand for all of nature. The threatened Brush-tailed Phascogale: a lesser-known, yet incredibly cute animal with a bizarre lifecycle? Perfect it for creating intrigue and allowing identification.

I created a festival banner using the phrase “Meet Your Neighbour” with an engaging photo taken by ecologist, Julia Franco.

For those who wanted to know more? I wrote a two-page factsheet full of humour and cheeky asides about the Phascogale’s strange lifecycle. Entertaining for children and adults.

The Result? The client still uses the project 5 years on and the factsheet is no. 5 on a Google search.
